Next Rehearsal - 12/02/25

Our next meeting is next Tuesday!

December 2, 2025 7pm-9pm
Raleigh UU, Peace Hall, Rm. 101
3313 Wade Avenue
Raleigh, NC 27607

And I fully intend to actually hold rehearsal this time! Since Yule is fast approaching, we should start working on "Dawning of a New Day" and "Gods Rest Ye". (I don't have music written for the channeled piece yet.) It will be a Waxing Gibbous Moon so, if we get through those quickly, we could work on "Moon, Sister Moon". I feel like we're getting a good grasp of "We All Come from the Goddess/Hoof and Horn" so we could spend a couple minutes locking that in. And, of course, the justice-oriented pieces from Reclaiming remain an option. If you'd like to be an overachiever and come prepared, sheet music and recordings for most pieces are available on our Drive.

'Tis the season for unexpected illness, unexpected weather, and folks being extremely busy. So, as foreshadowed by the cancellation of our last rehearsal, expect rehearsal to be held somewhat inconsistently, at least until around the time of our two-year anniversary in January.

We welcome all safe and respectful Pagan and Pagan-adjacent adults of any skill and experience level! We're community-focused rather than performance-focused, so we don't hold auditions and we welcome drop-ins. Because of the music that is best-known and most-available, our starter songs trend a little Wiccan, but we will be seeking to incorporate all kinds of Pagan and Pagan-friendly music. You can help! We welcome recommendations and leads on pertinent music that is in the public domain or is low-royalty.

There are no fees or dues for participating, but we do gratefully welcome any cash donations* to cover the cost of renting our rehearsal space. We will have a receipt book on hand to log all donations and post aggregate info (without personally identifying information) to the blog so everyone can see where their donations are going. *We are not currently a registered 501c, so we don't have financial accounts and I can't speak to whether or not your donation is tax-deductible.

If you are experiencing any symptoms of a contagious illness, especially Covid-19, please defer your attendance until you're feeling well. We'll all be breathing the same air in that meeting room and, while you are absolutely welcome to wear a mask, it isn't exactly conducive to singing.

We will have name/pronoun stickers, sheet music, and folders available at our meetings. The sheet music is also available on our Drive. The only things you need to bring are your voice and the vocal-chord-friendly drink of your choice!

The UU campus has multiple lots, buildings, and doors, so we have a video demonstrating how to get to our rehearsal space from either lot. (Apologies for my winded smoker wheezing!)

We can't wait to sing with y'all on Tuesday!

NO Rehearsal - 11/24/25

As voted on by our members, there will be no rehearsal on Tuesday November 24, 2025, due to the upcoming holiday and other demands on members' time this week. Apologies for the late announcement; I wanted to give folks as much time as possible to weigh in and I'm among those with other demands on our time. Just a reminder, the period between Samhain and New Year's is always very hectic, so anticipate rehearsal schedule being erratic during this period. Hopefully we'll be able to get together December 2!

I look forward to singing with y'all!

CANCELLED - Next Rehearsal - 11/18/25

Update:
I'm sorry to have to do this again, friends, but an emergency has arisen and we will have to cancel choir tonight.

Original Entry:

Our next meeting is next Tuesday!

November 18, 2025 7pm-9pm
Raleigh UU, Peace Hall, Rm. 101

We could rewind back to working on "Harvest Chant" for the folks who observe Thanksgiving.  We could also start on our Yule pieces, "Dawning of a New Day" and "Gods Rest Ye". (I don't have music written for the channeled piece yet.) It will be a New Moon, so we could start introducing "Dark of the Moon" to our newer folks.

CANCELLED Next Rehearsal - 11/11/25

UPDATE: CANCELLED

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to cancel choir tonight. Despite rest and medication, I can tell that if I try to do choir, I'll be in agony in short order.

This happens every year, it seems to be severe seasonal allergies causing debilitating sinus pain. (I've tried a variety of medications, none helped.) Hopefully it passes quickly this year so we can get back to singing together!

Since Samhain has just passed, we could revisit "Samhain's Door" and/or "Wings of Night" one more time. Or we could go ahead and start on our Yule pieces, "Dawning of a New Day" and "Gods Rest Ye". The moon will be Last Quarter, so "Moon, Sister Moon" would be the most fitting of our moon pieces. I feel like we're getting a good grasp of "We All Come from the Goddess/Hoof and Horn" so we could spend a couple minutes locking that in. And, of course, the justice-oriented pieces from Reclaiming remain an option, especially because some of them are fitting for those who observe Thanksgiving.
